Driving at a steady speed with the vibration, shift to lower gear but stay at the same road speed. Vibration stays the same?? If so, it'll be wheel balance. Or maybe a tire is beginning to go bad. Swap tires around to different corners to verify. It's not unusual for a wheel/tire to go out of balance over the life of the tire. Maybe a bent wheel from a pothole??

Default vibration probs

Thanks for that Jim. if anything changes e.g. going uphill or taking a bend, the shakes stop.I feel it's too fast to be a tire but they are due to be replaced soon so maybe that will solve the prob. Cheers Pete

When you get new tires, have them look for bent wheels. Sometimes the balancing machine has safety shrouds around the spinning tire, so you don't see a bent wheel unless you make a point to look for it.
