Head light burns out constantly... please help.
So my girls 01' Accord is burning out the passenger side head light about every two months. I don't know whats wrong and I've never seen this before. I've changed plenty of headlights and I know not to touch them. The first time I figured maybe I did, but I'm on the forth bulb now and I've been overly carefull not to touch the last three. Any ideas?

Sometimes a bad alternator puts out voltage spikes. You might see a voltmeter jumping around when the engines running. Or you might need an oscilloscope to see it.
Another idea? Check the little rubber bumper stops where the hood closes. If theyre too high, it might hammer the headlights whenever you close the hood?

If the alternator was going bad wouldn't I see other issues with the car? And as far as the bumper stops go, I'll have to look for them to be honest. I'm not 100% what you're talking about. I know my 96' inside and out, I'm still getting to know my girls 01'.

So about my last post, I'm a moron. I just looked at the car and your probably talking about the bumper stops just above the head lights. Yeah I took bumper literally as in some sort of a front bumper stop. My bad. I checked them and they look like they are just right. A little play in the hood when it's shut but no sag either.
Oh, and for what ever reason, I get a "This page can not be displayed" erroreverytime I try to click into this post. I have to use the drop down and go to the last reply in order to get in. Hopefully not everyone is having that problem cause I need help. Even the cost of the regular average headlight is getting expensive. The first two bulbs where the good $20 a pop bulbs. Now it's $10 everytime.

Electrical spikes can be flaky. Many things have their own voltage regulation, for example the ECU. Not headlight bulbs...
And yeah I still have trouble displaying some threads & posting to some too.

Regarding the light burnouts, I would check the connector carefully. A loose connector, might cause rapid on/off application of voltage to the bulb. Look for evidence of arcing on the bulb contacts.
As suggested vibration could also damage the filament. Is the headlight assembly completely secure? I've seen cars approaching me at night w/ the headlight noticably wobbling. It might help to drive towards someone at night to see if any movmentis noticeable.
good luck

I'll check the headlamp assembly to make sure it's tight. Also thinking about it, a surge could be possible I guess. Each time it's blown, I've noticed that the small coil inside the bulb is totally blown. In most cases I've seen when a headlight just burns out, that little coil just kind of seperates. With these blow outs, the entire coil is gone. I'll have to check the connections.
