Heater fan slowed and stopped

RE: Heater fan slowed and stopped
Because of what everyone has recommended, I bit the bullet and bought an OEM Nippondenso motor fromHonda - $250, including tax.
I had a fairly difficult time getting the metal band secured properly between the fan housing and the white piece that goes between it and the heater core housing, but I finally got the sucker in there correctly.
This is not a job I would enjoy doing more frequently than once every 15 years, so my wife and I are now satisfied that we did the right thing buying Honda OEM.
The fan runs great!
I have submitted another post about somethingI discovered while doing thisjob thatI think is fairly important for other owners if this generation of Accord.

glad you got it working! Farmers instincts serve well on jobs don't they... *L* If you haven't noticed I'm a bit of a backyard mechanic myself.... I wish I would have seen you looking for the motor sooner.... our vendor honda parts warehouse has it for $158.00... for OEM honda stuff I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else.... check them out in the future and you could have saved $100.00 this time....

Nasty,
There are two problems with what you have graciously suggested.
First, I needed the motor in there TODAY. I had a hell of a time keeping the windshield clear as I drove to Honda to pick up the motor. I even had to keep a couple of windows down. I cannot imagine putting up with this situation for even a few days in this lousycold weather.
Second, I have not found a US vendor of OEM Honda parts that is willing to ship to Canada, andthis place is apparentlyno different.Check out the FAQ link at that site, and then check "shipping rules and restrictions". You then see "Sorry. We are not currently accepting orders outside the continental U.S." I was confronted with this same situation on my timing belt job. Luckily I found someone on eBay who had bought all the parts for the job on his daughter's car, but before he could do it, she sold the car. I saved about $400 by buying his parts. I was very lucky.
Thanks for giving me the link to that site anyway, Nasty. It'll be a good reference site so that I can see how much I've been ripped off by our local dealer. Actually, I didn't get shafted that badly by Honda. $159 USD is equal to $185 CAD today. I paid $250 CAD, including tax, so that's $65 more than from that site. It would probably cost me at least $30 CADto get the thing shipped from the US using a fairly rapid shipping rate, and another $18 to $25 for tax and duty at this end, so now I'm, at most,$17 above the total I would pay from that site. That's the premiumI paid to get the job done today, and, all things considered, I don't feel too bad about that.
