o.k got the trouble codes again. the code is 1 and 6 and if my manual is right it is the coolent temp. senser and the o2 senser. is there any thing else i could check, i dont think those would prevent it from firing up? or maybe it would? thank you for your help, the codes were throwing me of they are not like my chevy truck. thanks for the diagram. dave

Thermostat housing was a general ground location where a small bundle of wires would be grounded. But I think that's not every year from 1977 to today. I don't know where they bolted that bundle of ground wires in 1991 if it's not there. It was a popular spot for corroded/dirty/loose wires.

Mothership replied and told me that he has a code 1 and a code 6.
Code 1 is a problem with the O2 sensor, but would not prevent your car from not starting.
The code 6 is for the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, and that can cause problems. It is bolted into the cylinder head under the distributor, and it should have a black or grey electrical connector. Check that there is no oil or corrosion in the connector and it is plugged in properly.
The ECT should have two wires going to it (yel/grn and grn/wht). The resistance across the sensor terminals should be 200-400 ohms. The yel/grn wire in the connector should have 5V to body ground (valve cover bolt) with the key in the II position. It should also have 5V when you touch one volt meter lead to the yel/grn and the other to grn/wht.
