Then it culd be fuel not reaching the carb?
Lets not forget just cause you hear the fuel pump doesnt mean its delivering the fuel?

What's confusing to me is you say it doesn't turn over (meaning the starter doesn't crank?) but yet you say you DO get spark. You can't get spark unless the crankshaft & camshaft are spinning.

When you say it doesn't "turn over", do you mean it doesn't fire?

well had friend say can see spark when i turned key , motor doesnt crank or do anything , hear clicking noise by starter sometime , but dont know how car could konk out if starter was bad , can see if car had stopped and started again , also dont know if this means anything as i never noticed before ,car is showing 3/4 full of gas , which there is in it , when car is off , shouldnt gas gage drop down , then needle go back up , when car is started , this is staying at same mark when key is off or on

That's normal behavior for the fuel gauge in 97.

I guess I'm still confused about the spark, but lets get the starter to spin the engine first. Have someone turn the key to START while you rap on the starter with a broom handle or something. If that makes the starter go, then you're looking at worn brushes or worn contacts in the starter-solenoid or something like that.

When it cranks again, THEN revisit the spark. Got a timing light? Check if it flashes while the starter is cranking. I suppose it's possible to get a single spark when you first turn the key, but NOT a good repeating spark during cranking.

ya tried that with starter , still get nothing , like i said can hear clicking noise from starter or solenid , cant tellwhere when key is turned ,tapped it few times , got nothing , like i said my friend says he can see spark , i couldnt , i thought engine had to crank to get a spark ,maybe it doesnt , also shouldnt engine crank even it was not getting fuel , right now engine does nothing , so i think its electric problem , not fuel problem , like i said car konked out while driving so cant see it being starter

You're right, whether or not you have a fuel and/or spark problem, that won't interfere with the starter.

So get the starter working first. Then figure out if it's fuel vs. spark.

The starter system has nothing to do with the distributor, fuel pump, etc... You should not see any spark if the starter is doing nothing.

I would disconnect the battery and clean all ends of both battery cables using a wire brush or sand paper.

Then I would see if this fixes the problem. How do you know the battery is good? Do you have a battery charger?
