I have a 96 EX and had the SAME EXACT problem with my car a few weeks ago. AND I needed it to get inpsected the same as you. USE HONDA DUDE's DIY guide. Previous to this, I had never worked under my hood. I was able to fix the EGR issue within an hour by cleaning the ports. Just take your time, use a socket wrench and wear a shirt with your name on the pocket so you feel like a real mechanic. Just remember to reset your CEL when you're finished.

 

Desert could you move them over to the DIY section if it hasn't been done already? I don't think I can sticky them in there and those are great articles

 

I just had mined replaced in Atlanta at Nalley Honda, according to them you have to clean it out as well as replace the egr valve it cost me $383.00 as I was srtranded.

 

Damn I have 192,000 miles on it wi**** happened sooenr would ahve savedme $383.00

 

it is done.. egr ports cleaning is on the DIY section
