Default help finding TCM in a 97 Accord Lx

i just bought a 97 accord lx auto with 185k and the d4 light blinks when i am driving. i have been looking on this site and some say it maybe the tcm (transmission control module) that needs to be replaced. I looked on http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/hon.../transauto.pdf at sectiion 14-85 and i looked at my car and took the carpet up on the pass side and unbolted the 4 10mm bolts that hold the metal ecm cover on and all i have is the ECM on the right side of the cover and i dont see my TCM. Where else would it be located ? Please help. I have a buddy that has a TCM out of a 97 accord that hes gonne let me test out.

Default tcu

not sure this is right, but on my 92 i remove the right kick panel , take up the carpet, there should be two units bolteed to the bottom side where you removed the four bolts, rthe samller one should be the one, i beleive yours is the same. be sure that the test unit is the same numbers, lx and dx should be the same , ex and se the same but not the same as lx end dx. good luck, did you check for code faults??? need to do so

Just looked in shop manuel for 97 , it shows the tcu bolted to ecu cover beside the ecu unit held in with three bolts should be the smaller one.. hope this helps

i took the ecu cover out and all i see if the ECU, i dont see the TCU that i thought should be bolted next to it. i wonder if my car was a manual car and some one swapped it out. If not then i am not sure where the hell its at. Its gotta be some where b/c it prob wouldnt shift with out the TCU attached some where

I highly doubt anyone would swap to automatic, huge PITA. It could be that the TCU is just integrated inside the ECU.

I know in 1998 Accords had the combined unit (PCM = powertrain control module). I don't know if that started in earlier years.

It must be combined, I know for a fact that my 1995 LX auto had them separate and they were right next to each other.
