Help installing block heater 2012 4-cyl
hi guys i am new in this forum and have a quick question and any advice will be appreciated , i currently owned a 2012 Honda Accord Ex 2.4 liters and would like to install a engine block heater without having to pay ridiculous dealership fees. so i went ahead and purchased a engine block heater Honda manufactured of course for $ 55 bucks instead of $ 80.00 in New York State. but now i need to figure out how to install this heater without having to drain the engine coolant since is a pain to refill it and check for any leaks or bleeding. thanks.

I moved these into their own thread.
Sorta remember the heater screws into the back side of the block, replacing a plug/bolt that's already there. But don't take my word for it, maybe someone around here has instructions. Didn't you get instructions with the heater? Can't do that without spilling some coolant, but if you're ready and quick you probably don't lose much.
The K-series 4-cyl doesn't have the air-bleeding issues of the older engines, because the thermostat isn't a high spot where air collects. Air collects at the radiator cap and it's much easier to get rid of air bubbles.

IIRC you remove a freeze plug and then screw it in the plug's place. Premixed coolant doesn't cost much, you may as well just drain the system to keep it from getting everywhere. There may be some designs that go inline on a rad hose and pump coolant through while heating it.

Picture of the block-heater "kit" looks like the heater is in the form of a big threaded plug. There IS a similar big plug on the back side of the K-series engine block, so I kinda figured that was it. But I'm not really sure.
The picture doesn't look at all like the kind of expanding plug that fits into a freeze-plug hole.

the instruction are included with the heater but i was trying to get some short cuts by avoiding draining out engine coolant etc, but since there is not that complicated to refill coolant ( I thought it was) i mind as well doing it.
