high pitch hum
Hey all. I'm new to the forums and would appreciate any help.
I recently bought a 03 Accord coupe, manual, w/ 90k miles. It started making this high pitch hum coming from the front driverside of the engine. It isnt very loud and comes on after the car has been running for about 2 minutes. It doesnt change w/ speed or rpm, and cant really be heard once I go over 20 mph. The noise continues for about 2 seconds, and then quickly fades out after I turn the engine off. It is a definate hum, and not a screech or squeel. I sound exactly like it when I hum.
I appreciate any help or suggestions. This is the first car I have owned that isnt 10+ yrs old, and am a little apprehensive about diggin around in there and messing something up.

Its hard to diagnose a sound over the web.
It wasn't clear from your post if the sound is happening when the car is in park.
Try to locate the sound when the engine is running and we may be able to help you. A piece of garden hose or some bulk hose from an auto parts store can act as a poor man's mechanics stethoscope to help find the location of the sound.
