No, the car is total factory - I just commute with it(have 150K miles already) I plan on having the tires balanced and a 4-wheel alignment. Another concern is an increasingly loud hum, which I at first thought was just road/tire noise... but now I think it might be CV/wheel bearings.

Check whether the tire-shoulder wear is smooth or cupped. If it's cupped, that would explaina growling noise. I had some Bridgestone RE-011 tires that did that very badly. It was pretty loud towards the end.

Depending on how bad the tire wear is, & how much tread is left otherwise, consider this... Some alignment shops will set your alignment just a bit off (but within acceptable tolerance) to compensate for tires that are worn funny. You may not want them to do that, at least without telling you exactly what they did.

The pins move nicely and I greased them up well. The new pads fit well and slide around easily. As it turns out both of the rear inside pads were worn down to the metal warning tab, while the outside pads still had quite a bit of pad left. Now my front pads look good, but I'm thinking the rotors might be warped because when I brake at a high speed the front wheels shake a bit. Before I go there, I will get the tires balanced because just driving at a high speed I feel a little shake - but it's much more pronounced when I brake hard. I have another problem with a loud engine rattle that I will post separately. Thanks!
- Frozen slider pins will cause the inside pads to wear faster. For future reference, and I am going to start doing this too, is to check and lube the slider pins with every other or every third oil change.

- Do you rotors pulse when they are cold? They will probably need to be changed soon.
