Honda Accord 2004 V6 Newbie Qs
Hi Guys,
I bought a used Honda Accord 2004 V6 with 57K miles on it and this is my first car ever, so i don't knew anything about car except that I want an Honda Accord .
My questions are:
1. My previous owner told me that he was using synthetic oil and asked me to continue with that. Is it really good for the car? I checked with Midas and they are charging 3.5 times for it... Please advise.
2. Also I am in NJ... should I go for 60K timing belt replacement? Honda manual says that I can go upto 105k without replacement... But what is your experience suggest?
and my 60K servicing is coming up.. where shld I go for servicing?
Thanks in Advance,
Ravi

Synthetic oil is good, but it's a myth that you can't ever switch back.
I don't think there's anything special about NJ, as far as your timing belt goes. Plan for it around 100k to 105k or so. But check your owner's manual for the TIME interval too - maybe 7 years?
For the 60k service, what kind of stuff do you want to do yourself?

ExxonMobil Honda Genuine Oil and/or Mobil1 is factory fill on Honda's. I know the Acura RDX specifies Mobil1 5W-20 for oil.
I use Mobil1, a 5 quart jug and filter usually runs me about $35-37 an oil change doing it myself. Wal-Mart seems to have the cheapest Mobil1 prices, although they usually don't carry Mobil1 filters and sometimes oil.
