Default How to fully program a key from dealer

I lost one of the keys for my car so I went to the dealer to get a replacement.

Parts said they could make me a key ($65) but I would have to schedule with Service (more $) to have it programmed. I said just give me the key and I'll program it myself (i've done this on a volkswagen before, thought it must be possible).

Well, I did the trick to turn on and off the car and the key fob part of the new key works, but it won't go in the ignition (immobilizer?)

Is there anyway I can program this? Did the dealer mess up my key?

Sorry, I should mention this is a 2007 Honda Accord

The FCC ID and other markings are identical to the working key.

Argh - I read a lot of more threads on here and I guess it's not possible without going to the Dealer.... I'll be calling around I guess

the dealer has to program the key to the ECU/immobilizer using the HDS system. the unlock/lock/panic features can be self programmed.
