How to locate 97 Honda LX Primary 02 Sensor?
#12
Thanks for your help. I saw the oxygen sensor on the website oxygensensors.com/catalog.php?&pkey=1167522 has unconnected three pieces and the wire is very short. It is a universal product, 4-wire but I need direct OE replacement, right?
I also saw the oxygen sensor from the Denso website at DENSO Aftermarket Online Catalog Search | Vehicle Parts Search
Can you explain what the Pro upstream and downstream mean? Should I select upstream or downstream?

The Denso oxygen sensor listed on oxygensensors.com is the direct OEM replacement, which has the electrical connector already and does not require splicing the wires. The primary oxygen sensor is the upstream sensor (i.e., before the catalytic converter (cat, for short)). A downstream sensor would be on the cat or directly after the cat.

The primary sensor on your 99 Accord (Asia) appears to be on the exhaust manifold, behind the exhaust manifold cover; same as the 99 U.S. Accord. This image is from an international Honda parts site (Ling Honda) for the 99 Accord sold in Asia. I didn't confirm if it was the same F20B engine though.

I would like to share my experience since I got help from the others. If the Honda Accord engine light is on, go to the Auto Zone to scan the vehicle. If the scan result is Faulty A/F sensors 1, it should be faulty front oxygen sensor. Then you can rent a sensor wrench tool from the Auto Zone to remove the oxygen sensor by unclockwise it using the tool. Make sure to disconnect the battery negative before removal; otherwise, the engine light will still be on after the replacement. Then you go to the DENSO website to locate the nearest store to sell the Honda original Denso parts. It may be even cheaper than the Bosch oxygen sensor from the Auto Zone. I got it from the White Brothers Auto Parts. Good luck everyone!
