Exclamation humming noise with acceleration?

Hello, i just purchased a 2010 Accord yesterday and while i was driving it to work later that day, i noticed that there is this 'humming' noise from the front of the car when i accelerate. Even when i barely push the gas petal down at the stop light about to go or going down the highway, i can hear a particular soft, but high pitch hum. I also noticed (not when i test drove it though) that it seems like the engine is working to hard to pick up speed or is taking to long to shift gears when i accelerate. for example, when i noticed it, i went on the highway to test it out and i floored it to 80 but it didn't change gears till i had to hit the breaks and slow down, where as in other cars it will usually shift while speeding up. I'm not sure if its just me, but i wanna double check here before making a fuss about it. It just seems like the engine is working too hard when i accelerate compared to my 99 dodge neon. what do you guys think?

Find an empty parking lot. Try doing some serpentine steering and turns with a long arc. Listen for changes in the sound when turning right vs turning left.

It is kind of hard to figure out what is happening with your transmission. Take note of the rpm at 50, 60, 70, and 80 rpm. Another way to give more information is to give us the rpm and the speed where the transmission shifts.

When the engine is warmed up and not running, check the transmission fluid level. The procedure should be in your owner's manual.
