HYDOLOCK
OK THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED... I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 ACCORD WHICH BY THE WAY IS DROPPED 2.5 INCHES. I HAVE A V2 INTAKE AND I WAS DRIVING IN EL PASO AND I STOPPED B4 A BIG PUDDLE. I KNEW I WOULDNT MAKE IT BUT I COULDNT TURN AROUND... SO I GASSED IT PUT IN IN NEUATRAL AND AND HOPED I WASNT GOING TO SUCK IN TO MUCH WATER. WHEN I HIT THE WATER IN ENGINE INTANTLY SHUT OFF. NO BANG NO POP NO SPUTTER NOTHING. THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER AND HE SAID IT WOULD COST 2600 TO FIX, THEY SAID THEY HAD TO COMPLETELY REBUILD THE WHOLE ENGINE AND THE ONLY THING THAT WERE REUSEABLE WAS THE VALVE COVERS AND OIL PAN. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT TO ANYONE? DID ANYONE RUN INTO THIS KIND OF PROBLEM?

RE: HYDOLOCK
YEAH I THOUGHT ABOUT DOING THAT BUT I JUST GOT A USED ENGINE WITH 40000 MILES ON IT SO I DONT KNOW IF DOING A SWAP THATS GOING TO COST ME LIKE 4 GRAND OR MORE OR SHOULD I JUST TAKE THIS USED ONE I GOT AND JUST PUT 4 GRAND INTO IT AND BEEFING IT UP. AND WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST DOING TO BEEF UP THE TRANNY CAUSE THEY ALSO SAID I HAD SHAVINGS IN IT SO I WOULD HATE TO FIX THAT AND THEN FIGURING OUT I COULDA JUST SPENT A COUPLE HUNDRED EXTRA AND MADE IT STRONGER? I HAVE A F23A5 AND I FOUND A JDM H22 WITH 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. I SEEN THE DO IT YOURSELF SECTION WITH THE AUTO TO 5 SPEEED CONVERSION BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK IT WOULD COST ROUND ABOUTS? JUST WONDERING.... THANKS FOR THE REPLY!

RE: HYDOLOCK
its going to cost alot to make it a manual. ~5000 there are jdm h22's that are auto. you are going to need a hasport kit to get the motor to fit in the bay and you might run into emission problems depending on where you live. good luck. the v2 is a great intake but now you know when it rains just dont drive the car its not worth it.

RE: HYDOLOCK
YEAH, IF I GET A H22 AND CONVERT IT TO 5 SPEED THEN I WOULD GET THE SAME AMOUNT OF POWER ON A STOCK MOTOR IF NOT A LITTLE MORE THAN IF I TURBOED MY CURRENT ENGINE. WHAT SHOULD I DO? IS IT F23A5 WORTH SPENDING MONEY ON TURBOING IT AND STRENGTHING IT? OR SHOULD I JUST MOTOR SWAP IT AND ACHEIVE THE SAME POWER?

RE: HYDOLOCK
My personal opinion is that it's not going to cost you much more to beef up the internals, if the car is already torn down then engine work is cheap (it's the teardown that's spendy) I'd just build up the internals to take higher rpms and sleeve it so you can run a higher boost turbo (around the same money probably but it's going to give you more power in the end) I hydro locked an engine myself and for future referance if you're running a CAI get the AEM original with a bypass valve (you can't put them on the V2)
