Thats true the insurance would probably not want to cover it if the CAI was still in the car
but i kept the stock air filter and put that back in before i had it towed away so now it will just have to be a mystery as to how the water got thru the OEM air filter

So the guy at honda gave me a quote he said it would be 2300$. He said he has a used motor for 900 and then labor, obviously I need to wait until I see what the insurance adjuster says but lets say I were to cash out on the 2300 and buy the 900 motor and swap em out myself, is that something that would be worth doing or should I just leave it up to the dealership to mess with? I get nervous when I start disconnecting vacuum hoses and wiring, because I never seem to be able to get everything to fit back together right. What does anyone have to say about that? It would be 1400 in my pocket but then i am sure things will come up that I will need to buy to finish the job or things that i should replace to save from future headaches.

9000?? jeez.

If you can get the motor for 900 bucks, let's see.... I am someone who loves the big projects like swapping motors and the like (and once you've done it once or twice, it's easy). If you have the skill and patience to do it, then I say go for it. Get a repair manual for the car, a shop lift and some other good garage tools and go for it. If you have a friend that's a gear head, give him a call too and maybe he can help. It's not as hard as it seems.

You could probably even find a motor for less on ebay.

insurance IS going to cover it, they are putting in a used engine with 50k miles on it and it comes with a two year warranty, all I have to pay is 250 bucks. While they are in there they will tune it up, put new spark plugs, new timing belt and a few other things, I think I am getting the better end of the deal!

Not a bad deal for 250 out of pocket.

You will avoid puddles this time, right?

lol, mbo said it. Make sure if you ever put that cold air on to shell the 50 bucks out. 250 is an excellent deal for what it could have been. I'm sure you were sweating bullets...I would've been.

I just hope they don't raise your insurance rates now!

I (coincidentaly) stalled my car through puddles twice when I had my AEM V2. Luckily it was due to water getting inside the distributor and not the engine.
