Default I have a whining noise on my 04 accord?

I have a 04 accord that in the morings or when i start if for the first time, it makes a whining noise from the engine and from the steering wheel. This is my first honda so I don't know what to do, or what it is. Does anyone have any ideas on what it is.

Whining noises are frequently the power steering and can be caused by air being pulled into the PS pump. Low fluid, or loose connection where suction feed connects to pump could cause air to be pulled in. Make sure you have plenty of fluid and check the hose connections for signs of leakage (out) which would pull air on suction feed when pump is running.

good luck

I have a similar problem. My began to whine and increases with RPM but not turning of the wheel. I replaced the pump and the "O" rings on the high and low pressure hoses. It still whines. My gut tells me i am getting air on the low pressured side. Any help?

If you rule out PS, what about alternator? Diode bridge going bad can make whining noise. It's loudest right after you start the engine, as it charges the battery back up from starter load.

Have someone start the engine so you can listen carefully up there & pinpoint the location.

I would suggest removing the PS or Alt belt to isolate which is causing the noise.

It is potentially possible to be the AC compressor also.

good luck
