Post I messed up i think. Weird issue...sedan/wagon owners

Long story short I bought a new driver door. The car i pulled it off of was a 1996 sedan lx. Mine is a 1997 wagon ex...everything swapped perfectly...except the 96 door has a strange black box with some beefy wires running to it. Its located on the top right just above the door speaker. My wagon didnt have that box(white "insulation" didnt have drill holes in it, so it wasnt missing) and nearly had a whole different setup for the power door locks.

So yeah all the windows work the mirrors work, key hole works, door speaker and door light...but the power locks dont work at all...and not on the passenger side either...it did before i did the swap.

My question is, what is the black box for(google isnt helping) and is there a way i can rewire or bypass the connections to get my power locks back again?

A little note as well, all sedans i saw at pick and pull had that black box. Unfortunately there arent any wagons, and the chance that the door was in good condition is just as rare.

Default Adding 2 pictures. My phone keeps crashing.

Black box on 96 sedan door. Top right. Weird wiring everywhere although it is stock.
97 wagon. No wires going towards where the black box is on the 96 sedan. Wiring is less complicated. Doesnt make sense at all. You would think the EX would have more wiring but the sedan LX has more connectors and wiring.

The ex wagon has the keyless entry under the driver seat. The module in the sedan door does a similar function but provides no factory keylesz

Oh yes i forgot all about that!!! The black box is under the drivers seat. Okay. Well my only option is to pull off the harness on my old door and use that on the new door. Thank you.

I had to do that when I replaced right rear passenger door. Front passenger door is identical across both sedan and wagon electrically. Sedan and wagon door shells are identical for all 4 doors. Wagon rear doors are not identical electrically as they contain additional wiring for the rear speakers.

Default 1 week later...

Alright boys, i appreciate the help. Like i said this isnt something that you can google easily and im glad you guys know your cars.

So in return I guess ill tell you the full story so you can have something to read on the toliet.

2 weeks ago I was leaving work and my window started binding so hard that the motor popped out the gears, so i did the classic wood shim to hold my window up until I had time to something about it. I decided to get ambitious and just buy a whole new door from pick and pull and get a new panel, mirror, and window; instead of just picking up a motor.

I didnt do my research and thats where I messed up. After reading what you guys posted I switched the wiring harnesses and everything worked...well nearly everything. At first it didnt because i blew the 20 amp fuse for the door lock module because i was stupid and plugged in the door and it tricked the computer(because of having an extra door lock module)...changed the fuse and leveled the door. Everything is working how it should!
....
Well not exactly...
My dome lights, rear defroster and only the intermediate wiper mode isnt working.
I swear I opened pandoras box

I checked all my fuses(without pulling them) they look alright but im sure they are original from 1997 and in this california heat i know stress cracks in fuses is a real deal. So Im going to buy a multipac and replace them all.

I was hoping to say I completed this project, and be done with it but I feel I really screwed up. This is tougher than swapping my auto trans.

Did u mean ECU or is there an icu? Not being a smarta$$ but my knowledge is short on this subject lol. Is that something I could acquire and fix easily? I checked the ones under the dash too.

Icu. Blue box mounted just above fuses and relays in the interior panel. It controls the defroster and intermittent wiperx seatbelt buzzer, key chime etc. My diagrams don't tell me if the dome lighting runs through it too
