Default Idle Control Valve Repair & Replace: Help pls

04 EX, 2.4L, 130k miles.

Code: P0507, P2279

Symptoms: Random, repeated RPM reving, betweem 1500-2500 up and down. Occured in park, neutral, drive. Then the check engine light. New plugs, O2 sensors, filters, etc within 10k miles of this issue.

------------------------------------------------
Normally I'd do the fix, but no time with work.

My local shop said repair and replace Idle Control Valve. Fine, I let them do it. All is well.

They decommended a "Fuel Service Cleanse." (I did not get details on what exactly they would do, other than hear them tell me it helps clean up carbons, B.S. B.S. etc.)

I declined.

Was a "fuel service cleanse" really necessary?? Thanks

IACV's have been a service item on many Accords. Don't seem to see as many on 2003-2007 Accords, but may be early days yet.

It may not be dirty IACV, but can't hurt to clean.

You need a shop manual to run the diagnostics for those codes. Suggest a download from automanualsource ($22).

good luck

Thanks. My question is:

Is a fuel service cleansing recommended with a IACV replacement?

Fuel cleaning is easy money for shops. Fuel cleaners in all fuel you buy is adequate.

good luck
