Very nice find, Roader! I really appreciate these kinds of "studies", not the ones that find the silly correlations that help nobody.
I guess even though idling doesn't cost anything significant, sitting there looking at your average MPG go down is too painful for me. :P

I am amazed at the number of people who sit in their cars while in drive-thru window lines at fast food restaurants while idling away! My experience is that if you actually park your car and go in, you will, more than likely, get your food faster. Of course, most people think it's faster to sit and wait in the line at the drive-thru. That's why I have a delusional conspiracy theory that the drive-thru lines a grand conspiracy between fast-food restaurants, oil companies and auto dealers and repair shops! You sit there idling and wasting gas while subjecting your engine to unnecessary wear and tear! LOL
