Default Immobiliser re-set

1999 Rover 620 2ltr petrol (Honda engine) UK car

Hi There

I'm new here so Hi to all ...

A few days ago, I set the alarm off by opening the boot (trunk) when it was frozen up ... Car has refused to start ever since. When I turn ignition off, key light on dash flashes 5 times ... I assume this is the immobiliser warning light.

Is there any simple fix for this ?? ... any way to "re-set" the alarm/immobiliser system ??

The Rover 620 is an Accord under a Rover shell ( but I'm sure y'all know that !!)

I sure didn't know that
Call your dealerhip and they might know or hope that someone else jumps in here who's got one like yours.

(I knew it was a Honda.. but I think it's still a Swindon-built car)

Here in USA, when the green key lamp flashes, that means the immobilizer is working & recognizes a good key. I vaguely recall hearing the alarms & immobilizers are different for you guys over there.

Update

AS it happens, you are right Jim ...

The flashing "key light" is normal ... and me setting the alarm off had nothing to do with the problem ... pure coincidence

It turned out (thankfully !!) to be nothing more serious than dampness in the cylinders, probably caused by the recent Arctic conditions ... a quick heat-up of the 4 plugs with a gas torch and we were back in business ...

But now that I've found the Honda Accord Forum, I'm sure I'll be back with other little problems with my beloved Rover 600 (Honda) ...

Many Thanks and keep up the good work ...
