Inner Tie Rod-How to Take it off?
Im replacing both the inner and outer tie rods on my 96 accord. The inner tie rod ball end screws into the steering rack.
That said, there seems to be a big washer or plate of some kind covering the nut where I need to put a wrench and unscrew the inner tie rod OFF the rack itself.
How do you take this small cover/washer off the rack to gain access to unscrew the inner tie rod?
Thank you!

after you remove the p/s rack boot,, get a flat tip screwdriver and a hammer, bend the lock washer off the nut on the tie rod,,once you do that ,, get ( i think) it is 19mm ( not 100% sure ),open end wrench..put the tool in the nut,, pull the tie rod end toward you to lock tool in place so tool does not slip, loosen nut, remove tie rod ,,

I wanted to ask, when one installs the new inner tie unit, does one need to bend the new washer the way the factory did on the sides of the ball screw?Or is that not needed?I used the screwdriver and hammer to bang the old one flat- back straight and got my wrench on there and took it off.
Wasnt sure if I need to reinstall the new piece that way.If so,is it to help keep the nut from backing off?
Thanks!
(Ps) Wont get the job done til Tuesday...inner rack boot was ripped and no one can get it until Tues.Thought about using a universal boot but unsure about those.
