Default installing an f22a1 with an internal coil (91) to a car that has an external coil(93)

I acquired a 93 accord LE 5speed with a bad motor and want to put my good motor out of my 91 accord LX 5speed into it. Since my 91 has a reconstructed title and bad motor mounts along with numerous other problems. My problem is that the 91 has an internal coil and the 93 has an external coil. Will the engine harness plug in without a problem? Do I need to swap ecu's? Should I swap engine harnesses along with the distributor and coil? Please help! I'm new to the Honda scene and am getting discouraged by the amount of work I already need to do. I have the bad motor and transaxle out already. A little worried about pulling my good motor and then not getting it to run in the new car. It's my DD and all I have so any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

You may be able to just to use the 93 harness, 93 ECU, and 93 distributor with external coil with the 91 engine block and not do any modification.

If it is done at a shop with people that are aware of the electrical cross overs and splices then there is no issue. It has been done many a time.. That being said if as stated, this is your daily driver and you are not comfortable with wiring diagnostics then I would not recommend you do it your self.

I was thinking the exact same thing redbull-1, just like to have a second or sometimes even a third opinion. It's not being done at a shop. I am somewhat knowledgeable about the cross overs and splices from reading in the cb7tuner website. But it didn't have my exact situation in any of the blogs. Just how to change from one distributor/coil set up to the other in the same car. There is actually only one plug that looks different on the passenger side. Only other difference was the 93 did NOT have a center beam.. WTF? Will the one from the 91 work?

If you're talking about the center beam (#1 in the parts diagram), it appears it should be the same Honda part number between 91 and 93; sedans and coupes.

I didn't find a 93 LE trim level listed on the U.S. Honda parts sites.

I haven't found anything about the LE trim either. Like it doesn't exist. The badges on both sides of the front fenders say LE. I feel it's more of a DX since it has no power options, sunroof or cruise control. It does have AC though. That is the center beam I was talking about. Thank you. I think I'll do the extra work and swap the engine harness, distributor and coil over to the 91 block. Along with the center beam. I am going to save the head off the 93 also since it may still be good, and I may need the intake. Thanks again for your help.

Are you in Europe or UK? Honda has a different lineup of trim levels in different countries.

I got it swapped and running. I changed the engine harness and used the distributor and coil from the 93. Everything works great. Thanks for all the help! I am in the US. It has the LE tags on both fenders and on trunk lid under the accord badge it says limited edition in cursive. Still haven't found anything on it though, which is really weird.

You can use the VIN to identify the trim level. A google search for Honda VIN decoder should provide you the trim regardless of what label was placed on the trunk.
