Installing a lightweight flywheel
hey guys, I just got a xtd lightweight flywheel for my 90 ex. I put the new one on, and it lines up and everything but it has a little play in it. In between the bolts and flywheel, will this little amount of play mess anything up, or throw anything off balance?

Did the flywheel come with any washers or spacers or anything like that? Even a tiny amount of play will give you lots of touble, so you'll need to figure out what's going on...

If it can wobble with you moving it using your fingertips then you have some issues.... get some lock washers to fill that gap (or new bolts) and use some lock-tite or something on them... If that thing broke at say 6000 rpms it'd send chunks threw your firewall easy....

no, it didn't come with any kind of washers or anything. It has enough play to make a clunking noise back and forth. It lines up fine and everything, i dont know whats wrong. I didn't put anything back together yet, i just wanted to figure this out first.

some lightweight flywheels are thinner than the stock so they would require special bolts or washers. make sure to get good hardware if you change anything. get at least grade 8

I'd swap to a shorter bolt.... pull one of the existing ones out, go to a hardware store and get some that are a tad smaller, use a SMALL amount of lock-tite on the end and put them back in and you should be good
