The crack, if you can't find a shop to weld then you'll need to find a replacement....and new gaskets.....you should be good from there. And that is before the O2 so you should see an improvement in the MPG.

On the trans...again just me. Too many times I've seen/read about "cold shift" issues where non-Honda trans fluid is being used. IMHO, correct the source of your trans leak...then invest in Honda trans fluid (go for a case as the price break and the amount I would use). From there do a drain and fill - up to three - cycles of the trans fluid. You could do one drain and fill each weekend for up to three weeks. Again this is my opinion....others might have something else to say.
Is this the fluid you would recommend?

Yea, the shipping cost also put me back a little too. I will def. shop around. I'm pretty excited to drain this aftermarket crap out and put in some Honda oem. I've always used oem fluid in my VW and the tranny with 208,000 miles still shifts (manual) like butter.

As the saying holds true once again... Gotta pay to play !!

The part numbers, might help the search are

082009001 - this is the old part number that has been replaced to
082009008

Search around, even try being nice to your local dealers counter guy and see what you can find. I've seen the OE fluid for sale at Carquest for ~$8. The last two have no shipping involved, just your time and gas.

Thanks for the part numbers! I called my local Carquest today and they do have the fluid in stock. It's $7.80 a quart. I will be picking some up on Monday and beginning the "cycle" through over the next few weeks.

Cool, again sometomes when you include the shipping....you can find it at about the same price locally.

When you pull the drain plug on the trans.....don't get worked up about the gunk on it, just wipe it off/clean it real good and re-install.

Is the drain plug magnetic? I am assuming it is so it can catch any metal particles that got loose in the system...

Also, do these auto transmissions have a filter at all?

Yes the drain plug is. That is why I didn't want you to get worried if it had all kinds of "junk" on it...gray sludge.

The filter is so far inside the trans...only a rebuild of the trans to get to it. It is more of a mesh screen.

I'll be sure and snap a pic for everyone to see once I pull the drain plug out.

Today was fairly warm here in PA (almost 50). I went for a pretty long drive today, stop and go traffic, and the transmission felt great. These aftermarket fluids must have a very different viscosity than the OEM fluid I am about to put in. From the feel of my transmission once it's warmed up I think the tranny is doing well for 181,000 miles! NOt gonna lie, I am falling in love with this car!!

The plug will be grey and have "gunk" all over it

Again, IMHO - non Honda Trans fluid has "shown" to cause strange types of shifts in cold temps/cold fluid - three to four seems to be the worst.

The 95 of mine....over 380K, OE trans. I have OCD when it comes to the trans fluid on the autos and will do one drain and fill every ~15K.
