Question Keep Blowing Fuse #4 Small Lights Under Hood

I bought a small trailer to pull behind our Accord. Installed a wire harness from e-trailer. I keep blowing the tail lights. All the lights work untill I turn on the Headlamps. The total Amps for all the bulbs if all lights are on is 5.4 AMPS. Could this be too much additional load for the circuit. It is only 15 AMP. I don't know what is all connected to that circuit. I have checked the harness and trailer wiring for a direct short. All checked O.K.

Any suggestions?

Jim

Well, if this started just after the install....something isn't right.

Have you removed the harness and see if it goes away.

Everything works fine if the trailer is not plugged in. I only blow the fuse when trailer is plugged in. Right turn, left turn, break lights are O.K. Then turn on tail lights and fuse 4 blows. The rest of the lights still work.

Sorry, mis read that....I thought it was anytime you turned on the lights - no trailer.

So the issue could be with the trailer. Has anyone else use the trailer without issue?

No I bought the trailer new. I went through the wiring on the trailer. No direct shorts.

Could be that the fuse is selected pretty close to the usage load? Then when you add the extra wattage of the trailer lights it goes over. Seems strange that it would be rated so close.

Check the fuse list in the owner's manual where it shows the amp ratings. If someone has installed a smaller fuse, then get one the proper size. I WOULD NOT get one any bigger than what's listed.
