key fob/ fob receiver issue

key fob/ fob receiver issue
ok i went through the posts and don't see any that can help me...so here goes,
i have a 05 accord, i have one OEM fob, and one that i purchased from the dealer (assume its also OEM).
about a week ago i noticed that my fob in hand no longer actuated my trunk or my doors. i used the key in the old fashioned way and check the doors from the inside. The remote locks on the door handle still worked the electronic actuators. so its not fuses or something in the electrical system, and the interior trunk release which is a cable to the drivers side worked so don't know if that my be the problem somehow.
i have looked high and low on the inter web and youtube for a video on how to trouble shoot this problem.
is there a receiver inside that could have gone bad and if so, where is it? can it be replaced with another or do these need to be reprogramed by the dealer ($$$$!) or can i do it myself? are they interchangeable? ie one from a junkyard, would it work?
appreciate any help thats out there.

Thanks redbull-1, some of the best help in a forum I've had in a long time. will try the battery disconnect and short for x mins.... a couple of other questions,
1. are the control units interchangeable, ie could i get one from a 05 accord in a parts yard, and it work in my 05 accord? or is there a specific one needed?
2, is it replaceable by myself or will it need to be "programed" by the dealers.
thanks again, an i hope you don't mind me bending your ear on this...
trying to make ends meet on a retired sergeants budget.

The driver's door multiplex control unit (mcu) for 05 to 05 are interchangeable. 03-04 may have issues in an 05, as there are slight wiring differences at the connector.
The door mcu is easily replaceable by yourself. Power window controls will need reprogramming (can be done by yourself). Key remote programming can also be done by yourself.

Although your issues are door lock related, this other power window thread has some other information regarding replacing the door mcu and programming.
