Lacquer thinner in gas tank fixes inefficient cat converter?
#13
Just a little update for anyone interested. I used the cataclean stuff per instruction, and it seems to have made a little difference. Before I applied the stuff, I cleared the CEL. I did not want to wait for it to go out on its own, since with the accord hybrids, when the CEL is on, the computer won't activate the "eco" mode in which half the engine shuts off. It's been 120 miles since I applied cataclean, and the CEL has not come back on. (Last time it took only 20 miles for the CEL to come back on.)

could you also report at 1000/2000 miles, or whenever?
thanks for follow up.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that if the cataclean stuff doesn't help.

thanks for follow up.
my '97 has CEL on, runs fine, if you'll post up again at 1000 miles I'll just try this based on your thread.
Any reason to believe your CataClean any better than a competitor to your knowledge, or guesstimate?
