Thanks for the inputs. The cataclean stuff will arrive tomorrow (got it from amazon, which had it stocked nearby). I'll give that a try before putting in the sensor.

Google "cleaning catalytic converter" for some additional options. You're not the first to try this.

Just a little update for anyone interested. I used the cataclean stuff per instruction, and it seems to have made a little difference. Before I applied the stuff, I cleared the CEL. I did not want to wait for it to go out on its own, since with the accord hybrids, when the CEL is on, the computer won't activate the "eco" mode in which half the engine shuts off. It's been 120 miles since I applied cataclean, and the CEL has not come back on. (Last time it took only 20 miles for the CEL to come back on.)

could you also report at 1000/2000 miles, or whenever?

Have u tried seafoam works wonder made a 300.xxx mile car pass smog with flying colors also put two 108 octane boosters in less than a half a tank of gas hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that if the cataclean stuff doesn't help.

Yep. It's been 550 miles since I cleared the CEL and applied Cataclean, pretty good luck so far

my '97 has CEL on, runs fine, if you'll post up again at 1000 miles I'll just try this based on your thread.
Any reason to believe your CataClean any better than a competitor to your knowledge, or guesstimate?
