Lost my only remote key in the snow today
Hello! Stupid me lost my only remote key in the snow today (10+" mind you). I have the valet key. (My car is a '04 Honda Accord EX V6 automatic) My husband is under the impression that the valet key will only allow the car to run up to 15 MPH. Is that correct?
Also, I live in podunkville and the closest dealership is 1 1/2 hrs away. What is the easiest way for me to get another remote key or even one that's not remote? The dealer that was actually open today told me I would have to come all the way there and if the valet key runs the car like my husband says that would mean a very hefty towing bill!
Thanks!

I moved your posts into its own separate thread.
The valet key can be used to drive the car, as it works in the ignition and door locks. The car will drive like normal.
See attached pic. for some info.
You'll want/need a remote, as the RFID (radio-frequency identification) chip is in the remote for the Immobilizer system. Also, it'll be more convenient with a remote. Due to the Immobilizer system on your car being Type 4, the dealership will probably have to do it, as most locksmiths do not have the hardware to cut the key and expensive software to handle Type 4 Immobilizer systems.
See this TSB:

If you sign up, well, I went for the membership upgrade
with the most free miles of towing service since I'm outta town a lot.
I and others in family used it on car & M/C for flats, outta gas, towing for 103 miles,
locked out of car ... can sign up over the phone. Going to keep AAA as long as I drive...

My kids have 2007 & 2013 Civics, and both cases the valet key allows you to drive without any speed limiters. (Gotta believe it's the same with Accord) The ONLY thing it can't do is open the trunk & glovebox. IF you have locked them. If your little hand-lever for the trunk (next to the driver seat) isn't locked, and your glovebox isn't locked, then there's no problem.

I drive the wife's '07 Pilot with the valet key all the time. I don't like the size of the "remote" key head....I don't drive her car that much so to keep the "bunch" of keys on my key ring down I just have the valet key and keep the other remote key in a safe place.

AAA membership has been my friend for a decade now.
