Default Clicking/Tapping Noise was not VRC acutator-- bad rocker arm

I stumbled on this YouTube video by accident. This video was posted on YouTube by Jerryteck. I thought of the issues you are experiencing and decided to copy the link for your ready reference. (I hope I did not make another mistake and violate the term of use. I am new to the forum and need to read all this ins and outs. I apologize in advance if I made another error.)

The vehicle in the video is a 2011 Accord with clicking/tapping noise. Several times to the dealership and they eventually preformed the recall (please review text following the video). It helped until the next time the vehicle was cold and the engine was started. The Dealership eventually found the cause of the clicking/tapping. The engine had a defective rocker arm! You might watch the video and compare it to the sounds coming from you 2009 Accord.

I hope this helps!

Best of luck.

Thanks all.

bsdubois, I had about 6200 miles between oil changes, no oil leakage that I could see.
I dropped the accord off last night and showed them the video. They called me this morning and said that they had already changed the VTC Actuator, and had to check out the cam chain and timing belt, to see if they were bad. Then they called me back about 2:00 and said that it was done. (The only thing they changed was the VTC Actuator.) I just picked it up and brought it home and everything seems fine. The noise always happened in the morning on cold start ups, so I will see tomorrow morning.
Thanks for all of the input everybody.

Glad they fixed it. There is no timing belt. The cam chain is the timing chain.

You are very welcome. You have a follow-up video in the event it is not completely repaired. I am glad your Honda Dealer finally listened to you and fixed the issue. I hope it is completely fixed and it is working correctly in the morning when it is started cold. Please drop a note after the am cold start.

Good luck with the Accord in the future.

Ok so I started up the Accord this morning, ready to hear the loud metallic sound, and nothing but the car starting. Fantastic! It's fixed. Now if I could only get the surging fixed...

Goldwinger, will please start a new thread on the surging and explain what the vehicle is doing, what speeds, what gear, hot, cold, etc.
