Low End Perf. Better Than Highway
Due to a wreck last October, the best car I ever owned, an '05 Honda Accord V6 Hybrid was totaled.
In it's place, I now have an '06 Honda Accord V6, EX L (think the letters are).
It has nice performance in the city but on the highway, up around 65-70mph, that's when it seems to really tighten up and takes more weight on the gas pedal. That old car got me up to 120mph on two occasions! I doubt this one would do that. I think it tops at 100, maybe 110 one time in cool weather with high pressure on the barometer. I don't drive like that all the time at all, but just like to know I've got a car that is capable.
Are all these plain non-hybrid models like this, ho-hum performance on the open road? I could try another K&N air filter, but the one I had on the '05 caused hesitation, not to mention allowing fine dust particles into the engine. I finally wised up and replaced it with a stock filter.
Thanks for any input about how I might could improve highway performance. I'm on a low budget, bills flying left and right and can't afford what most others can who don't eat and spend it all on their car.

Sounds like it needs a tune up
Spark plugs
Plug wires
Distributor cap and rotor
Fuel filter
Oil change
Fuel treatment
Don't use a chip, they trick your car into closed loop that uses more fuel and will actually damage your car

Hee. Wow. It's only got 26k on it, great plugs, fuel injector cleaner ran, everything fine. There are no distributor caps and junk on this type car these days. I run SeaFoam through it every 3k miles.
I think it's just geared up for good city performance only, not highway, may be the sad facts on it. On the hybrid 6, the a/c didn't phase it. I "thought" this one didn't either, but am finding out it drags the performance down. I sure miss those extra horses the hybrid had. That's probably the harsh reality.
Check about the chip. Won't do it. Thanks for the warning. These slick CA companies will make anything for a buck even if it ruins engines. All their "testimonies" are probably authored by them themselves.
