RE: Maint Req'd light
Whats your mileage? To turn it off, turn key completely off but leave in ignition, hold the trip odometer reset switch in and continue to hold while turning the key on, the light will either blink or stay on steady for about 10-15 seconds, then it should turn off, once it does you can release the trip reset switch

It's just a milage timer. The reset directions above are correct. Look it up in the owner's manual for peace of mind. Also, please add vehicle info to your profile signature, then check the "add signature" box when posting questions.

RE: Maint Req'd light
I've never heard of a way to program it to go off sooner. Further, you can't clear it if it's not yet going off. If you change oil early, and the warning isn't going off, you can't clear it.
