I have a 1996 accord, 5 speed, 2.2l. I had to replace my steering rack, so I decided to convert it to manual steering, because, at the time, it was easier to do so (I’m a bigger guy, so it is hard to get to the pressure fittings and they were stripped, easier to break the line), so now I just have the pressure ports plugged. I don’t like how it is, it seems kinda like a hack job, and this rack I bought is very loose, so I was going to look at buying a new rack that is already manual steering. I have found one for a 96 civic, but can’t find one for a 96 accord. Does anyone know where I can find one, or if the one for the civic might even work? TIA

 

I'm thinking bad news on both of your questions; as far as I know, there is no such a thing as a Gen 5 Accord with manual steering, and no, the Civic rack will not work. Sorry about that.

 

Hmm, okay, I wasn’t sure if there was a place I could special order something or what not. I’ve compared sizes online and it says that a manual civic and a PS accord rack are the same dimensions, is there something that would keep them from working? I’m not sure, I just feel like looping it feels kinda hacky

 

I've never compared the two side by side, but the odds of the mount points and such being the same are pretty slim.
