mildew smell in my accord
Any ideas where the mildew smell may be coming from in my daughter's 1994 Accord LX? We have woned it for a month now and it did not smell when we bought it but now it is awful! There are no wet spots on the floor or seats and no obvious leaks...help!!!

RE: mildew smell in my accord
I would start with the A/C drain tube that drains the condensation from the evaporator. It can get clogged up with debris and prevent the water from draining. Mold can grow in the standing water. I had a lot of dirt and debris in there when I replaced the o-rings in the evaporator.
The drain tube exits the evaporator on the pass. side of the firewall. The evap canister might need to be moved to see the drain tube. You just have to push up on the evap canister and push it out of the way. Clean out as much debris with a pipe cleaner, test tube cleaner, or hanger and let the water drain. Spray some disinfectant in there like lysol to kill as much of the mold that is growing. You might have to spray several times over a few days to kill all of the mold.
Good luck.
