Default Is my car totaled?

I was driving on the highway in the rain and going with the normal flow of traffic and person infront of me breaked up real fast and I slammed on my breaks but my car slid and I ended up under their truck bumper. Its an 2008 accord with 20k mileage on it.

The damages are to the

-abovethefront bumper
-the grill
-hood was bent
-radiator was bent in
-right headlight smashed
-right fender bent

I was able to drive the car for a couple blocks to a nearby bodyshop. Still waiting on an estimate, what you guys think might be the verdict on the damage? I think it might be 4k but I am holding out on whether to pay out of pocket or with insurance

Well, for an 08, I don't think it is totaled. Not a paint and body expert, but your estimate doesn't sound that far off.

If the nose was down and you went under, stated the damage is above the bumper, you "should" be fine....besides the hassel of getting it repaired.

The question is will the insurance total it if I went that way ... I heard from someone that said if the damages is over 2500 in some cases the insurance will just right it off?

if your car is worth more than the damages they repair, if it is cheaper to just sale they total

I had Hood windshield and roof damage, minimum damage to the sunroof frame (still worked fine). No mechanical damage. broken hood latch. Just over 4k. They had to replace the whole roof.
