NEEDED 2005 accord duplicate key
Does anyone know the best way (other than the dealer) to get a duplicate key for a 2005 Honda Accord. The dealer wants $205.00!... Their has to be another means to get a key cheaper. I was also told only the dealer can program to the car!.. REALLY!?!?..

I just recently got a duplicate key for my 2008 Honda Accord (8th generation).
Go to Fixmykey.com and buy the key there.
For 8th Generation Honda's (can't speak for earlier generations) you will still have to have the key programmed (recognized by car) by the dealer.
There is no other option and I was charged the rip off price of $60 to program my key that took maybe 5 minutes.
but total cost shouldn't run you more than $100.00. And when the Honda stealer ask you where you bought the key and had it cut tell them it's a secret.

For the 2003-2007 (7th generation) Accords, the key with transmitter retails for $53.73, internet dealer price (Majestic Honda) sells it for $37.61, plus shipping and handling.

For the 2008-2011 (8th generation) Accords, the key with transmitter retails for $31.27, internet dealer price (Majestic Honda) sells for $21.89, plus shipping and handling.

These later generation Accords have the Type 4 Immobilizer system and from what I've heard, only dealer can program using Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) unlike earlier generation Accords with the earlier Type Immobilizer system (which some locksmiths can also program).

Price for the keys at local dealerships may be higher than suggested list prices, as many dealers may mark-up the price. Additionally, programming service prices vary at different dealers.
