Default no cold idle

93 Accord, got the idle to stop surging by cleaning FITV but now there's no high idle even when cold.

What rpm is the cold idle now that you cleaned the FITV. The 93 accord tachometer can be confusing. The first mark past 0 rpm is 500 rpm (and not 250 rpm). Not sure why Honda did that, but I know it confuses a lot of people.

well I'll have to figure out why the tach stopped working first too, but I can tell it's around 500 right away like a warm idle.

A normal idle is around 750 rpm. See my comment above about the marks on the tachometer scale on your accord.

You may want to bleed any air from the coolant, because an air pocket in your FITV would keep it shut.

Also remember that the increase in cold rpm may have been excessively high before you cleaned that valve, so your car may now be running normally. Are you having any driving issues?

I remember my old 95 accord didn't have a very high cold idle (maybe 850-900 rpm) then would drop fairly quickly to 750.

The tachometer signal is generated by the ignition control module inside the distributor. The missing tachometer readout can be the ignition control module, the wiring, or the tachometer in your dash.
