just the other day i noticed my car started missing while making a short trip accross town. then the check engine light started blinking and it stalled and would crank and sputter but not stay running. i pulled the dist cap off and cleaned it and it started and ran home where it stalled again.. i have now put new plugs wires and dist cap on it and it will crank but not start,, i need help fast. what could it be? it seems to be getting fuel. why would it start , run, and then decide it doesnt want to?

 

That check engine light turning on means the engine computer stored a code. You will need a code reader to get the codes. Most auto parts stores like autozone do this as a free service, but you may not be able to drive your car over there.

Maybe you can borrow one from someone. Find out the code and post it on here. It will start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234.

 

yea i work at a shop 30 miles away and am having it towed there now...
will pull codes there
