OBD II Code P0325
Wife's 2007 Honda Accord 6cyl CEL came on yesterday. I used by OBD II scanner and it returned P0325, which is Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction. And of course our mileage is at 35999, just about out of warrenty (and will be by they time we get to a dealer). So wife called the local honda service department and they said check the gas cap. She called back and mentioned the code above and they said that we can't read the code with just any old scanner, it must be done with a honda specific scanner. So two questions:
1) Any experience with P0325, can a loosegas capcause this. We filledup two days beforethe CEL came on and I thought I clicked the cap, but perhaps not.
2) Is the dealer blowing smoke up our...regarding the OBD II support on a 2007 Honday Accord?
I don't want to spend $90 for a diagnostic checkjust to find out it's the gas cap, but then again if there is truely a problem I would like to fix it.
Thanks

Call Honda and tell them its still under warranty, but it will be out of warranty when you get there. Take a picture of the odometer at 35,999 with a newspaper with todays date as bring it as proof. If they refuse to honor the warranty for a simply knock sensor, call Honda of America and see what they can do. In most cases, HoA will help you; they replaced the $3500 nav system in our MDX for the cost of the labor since we couldnt afford it.

Well you probably talked to a Service Writer; They only know the most common cause of the CEL as being loose gas cap;
Because a service writer can not diagnose whyan ink pen isnot writing, and it is not their job to diagnose.
If you have had any work at all done at the dealership there is 99.9999% chance they will extend 'service good will' beyond the warranty miles. Any service history at all will work in your favor.
Your code reader is correct on the code, but it would be best if you take the car in with the code stored. [MIL on] That way there is freeze frame data available for the Tech to review.
Try for warranty repair at the dealership.....don't waste your breath on the Service writer; Go and talk to the Service Manager in person.
If they will not take care of you....call the american honda customer care line phonenumber in your owners manual.
In any event you have to schmooze a little bit......'I love my Honda'........I'd like to keep my car fully serviced here'.........etc.
The knock sensors cost a chunk of change, [approx. $100 ea.] so it is worth the effort to try for warranty repair.

As a follow up, there was truely a problem. A rodent had made a nest in the engine and chewed through some of the wiring. This pretty much eliminates any warranty questions. I don't recall where I saw it on the web but others have had similar issues with chewed wires.
