Oil Filter Relocation, Any Down Sides?
I am thinking of getting an Oil Filter Relocation Kit for my car. I was wondering is the any downsides or problems that this might cause short of a few more places that oil might leak out or finding room under the hood for it?

I would mount it on the firewall below the oil pan so any sediment can settle in the filter. falkore24 is relocating his for his tubo tC project... the only downside I can see, besides leaks, would be the more expensive oil changes from the increased capacity.

To me the biggest negative is possible hose failure leading to rapid oil loss and engine siezure in worst case. Pretty low risk if high quality hoses and fittings are used.

Brandon .... I plan to mount the filters high so when I change them, the oil drains down to the pan. The filters hold over a quart by themselves!!! Since the relocation setup takes the oil from the filter location and sends it back to the same location, siphonic effect should negate the height issue in operation. This will add a tiny bit of static pressure to the system, but the dynamic pressure max should be lower due to less restrictive filtration ..... because they-re huge!!!
