oil gauge didnt change after oil change?
i got my routine oil change, went alittle over 3000 miles, maybe like 3,300 due to a busy schedule and not being able to get to the shop, but after i picked my car up the oil gauge still said my oil life was at 40 percent.. what could be the problem here? i know they changed the oil i felt a difference instantly, and i know my girlfriends dad wouldnt pull a slick one on me.. i got a 2009 accord lxs so i dont think little things like this should be going wrong already

The oil-life monitor doesn't actually measure anything about the oil. It keeps track of how you drive. How many starts, total revolutions, total time, throttle, etc. So you have to reset it yourself when you change oil.
You can't reset it until it gets down to 15%. But the procedure should be in the owner's manual.
- Press the odometer select/reset button until OIL %% appears.
- Press & hold the reset button until the oil display flashes.
- Release then press & hold it again until it resets to 100%.

You "got it changed" at a shop? Whoever did it probably knew how to reset it. If it hasn't counted down to 15% (when the idiot light comes on), then maybe a Honda scan tool can reset it. But you can't.

I'm old school, I still don't fully believe in the maintenance minder. For my own 8th gen Accord, even though I use Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil I still change it every 5,500 - 7,500 miles; the maintenance minder usually says 50 - 40% when I change it and then reset to 100%. It cost more to change it more frequently; but, it isn't detrimental to change more frequently.

I am very curious on what difference you felt instantly after getting the oil changed.
I have had my oil changed on many different cars many many times and have yet to once feel a difference.
What am I missing?
