Oil leak in 2001 4 cyl. accord only when parked downhill
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, because I've never really had any problems with my accord until now.
I noticed a small puddle of oil on my driveway the other day when my car was parked downhill (my driveway is slightly slanted towards the road), and then switched the car around for a few days with no more puddles, then I parked it downhill again and another small puddle came up. I'm not sure exactly where its coming from, but it seems to be from under the hood of the car (oil, not gas is leaking). I've heard about problems due to a drain plug gasket being old, but I have no idea why this would only come up when I'm parked on a decline. Also, the oil level seems to be fine (4000km since my last oil change), so the oil doesn't seem to be leaking much, if at all, during driving. Could this be oil from something other than the engine?
Thanks a bunch for any ideas or help.
John

If it's engine oil, it pretty much has to come from the engine. You'll have to help us out here.
I'm thinking the oil is leaking somewhere up high, & pooling on top of the tranny or something like that. Park downhill & it spills over & drains out on the ground.
Look around in the engine compartment for puddles of oil laying on top of something.

I'm not reallypositive that it is engine oil, my only guess is from when I wiped a newspaper on it on by driveway andit was brown and oily, but that was after it was sitting on the ashphalt for 18 hours or so, so it could have been the tarmac making the brown colour.
I'll take a look under my car tonight when I get home to see what I can find. And I will definitely stop parking downhill on my driveway
Thanks,
John
