I really loved Valvoline Maxlife but they discontinued the dino oil and switched to making only synthetic. Now I just use whatever is on sale. Regular change intervals > oil brand IMO.

Theydo make Valvoline Maxlife Syn Blend (not full synthetic.) It's only $12.99 for a 5 quart jug at WalMart (it costs much more if you buy at AutoZone or Advance - 4 quarts at Advance is like $17[:@].) I just bought some last week. That's what I use

I change mine every 5k or 4 months and use Purolator Filters (many times Iactually change it sooner though if I have the oil & filter on handand about 30 minutes of time to spare on a Saturday.)

not many people use amsoil let me guess?
I've used AmsOil before ..... Series 2000. 1 year intervals with 3 month level checks and topoffs when needed. Works great!

Test that and report back to us. All oil manufacturers have a car sponsored in some kind of racing leaque whether it's NASCAR, INDY, etc. that would be my definition of beating the crap out of an engine. Like we've mentioned, it's more about the change frequency than the oil type. Obviously a stock or F1 car is getting fresh oil before and after a race, do you put in fresh oil and then go beat the crap out of your daily driver?

And I bet they get fresh ENGINES about as often as you or I change oil.

no, NASCAR has a 1 engine per weekend rule, Formula1, where the engines are 2.4L V8's that turn up to 18,000 RPM, have a 1 engine per 4 race event rule same with the gearboxes. of the 10 F1 teams currently racing only 2 use oil other than Mobil 1. NASCAR, Valvoline, pennzoil, mobil1, and Quaker state are the main suppliers. Castrol pretty much sticks to associate sponsorships other than John Force racing in the NHRA.

now as far as personal use I use Castrol High Mileage and Mobil1 filters. tried out the HAMP synergy oil filter and it wasnt anything special.
