I think thats wat was wrong with my 96 accord lx. I was told that i need my front engine oil seal changed. it is an excessive oil leak with my car, and the oil won't stay in there even 5 minutes with the car started up. Is this a hard task to do? I was also told that to change this, u would have to take the timing belt and a whole lot of other parts out just to get to the seal (the crank). Is this true?

i wonder if the balancer shaft seal is partially popped out,,,,,,Honda had a recall on those 94-97, they had a lot of trouble with seal popping out,, to the fact that Honda installed a seal retainer .. If oil leak if from the left frt lower area , most definatelly the balancer shaft seal..
to replace the seal you would need to replace the t-belt in all probabilities is oil soaked ,, so while you got it apart , replace
t-belt
balancer belt
water pump
cam, balancer shaft and crank seals, oil pump seal
install balancer shaft seal retainer
valve cover gasket
alt + p/s belts if cracked
If it is the balancer shaft seal,, call Honda they might help you out ...

unfortunately that recall llike my library card has expired.
From what I understand. However, Honda dealers are supposed to install the retainer kit as part of the T-belt job. I had my 94's tbelt changed on '02 and the kit was installed as part of the job. The dealer tried it CHARGE ME FOR IT. I told them NO WAY and they gave me back my $4 for line item called "Front seal retainer kit"
