Oil Suggestions?
In my 93 Toyota, and my 88 Blazer I always used Valvoline or Valvolina Max Life.. but before I change my oil on my Accord I wanted to ask you guys for suggestions on what kind to use. I'm not sure what kind the previous owner used if that makes a difference, but this being a different type engine and all compared to my Blazer and Toyota.. I figured maybe I should ask on here to see what everyone thinks.
Planning on doing as much affordable tune-up as I can over the next week, so other than oil what other things would you guys recommend as well?

I live in Florida btw, I read the DIY deserthonda posted and he suggested Mobil 1 Synthetic, 10w-10.
I guess I'd probably go with that

if you do not have the money for syntetic than use any major brands 10w-30 or 5w-30

Whoops, typo.. I meant 10w-30
Probably going to use Synthetic Mobil 1, this car has to stay dependable for me..
Thanks for the tips, and for those oil drain plugs you posted.. I'm worried it could catch something when I ride low, I'll have to measure.

I use Castrol 10w-30 and just recently switched to WIX filters. Castrol is a good oil for small engines.
as far as other DIY tuning, spark plugs, plug wires, if you have a distributor cap and rotor change those, PCV valve, change tranny fluid and filter, fuel filter.

personal preference really, Ive used castrol for quite a long time and never had a day of trouble out of it. I know that Havoline and Pennzoil dont seem to work as well in my accord.

formula shell 10w-30. castrol actually isnt a good oil. i live in florida as well and with this heat i suggest 10w-30. i use formula shell and every time i change my oil it looks 1000 miles old.

Oils are lightyears better today than in 1996 when your Accord was built. I agree wholeheartedly with deserthonda that any major brand 5W30 or 10W30 will be just fine. My choice would be 5W30 but that is strictly a personal preference, either viscosity will keep it running longer than you want to keep the car.
