Default Oil type

So my friend checked the oil level on my car and he pulled out a little stick and measured the oil tank. He told me that the oil levels were dangerously low and that something could burn. So now I have to fill it up again. However I'm not sure what type of oil or brand I need because I don't have the manual (still working on buying it or finding it online).

My car is a 1991 Accord.

Can someone tell me which brand or type I should buy?

Your car is spec'd for 5w30 oil. As far as brand goes, that is pure personal preference. Valvoline, Pennzoil, Mobil, Castrol, Quaker State....all are very good oils and will work well in your engine.

And if it is leaking, find the source and get it fixed....running a car on low oil not what you want to do.
