Default Which one is more reliable: Accord 2006 2.4 or Altima 2007 2.5

Hi guys,
I was looking at the Civic as my first car but apparently 2006 have alot of problems (engine cracks) and I came down to Accord 2006 2.4 or Altima 2007.
In your opinion, which one is more reliable in the long term, I am looking get get it used with 120-130K millage.

And in genera, what are some major problems to expect from 2006 Accords 2.4 ?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Since I own a Honda, I'm pretty biased. I vote Honda
I haven't had any significant issue with mine. By the way, Altima isn't as big as Accord. Maxima is comparable in size... (though not in price!)

You're looking at cars 4 or 5 years old and 120k-ish miles. The Accord vs. Altima question is fine, but more important is the difference in condition and maintenance between the actual cars you find. I like Hondas too, but I'd choose an Altima if it were in better shape than an Accord. Anyone shopping cars that are outside a normal warranty (or "certified used") can benefit from having a mechanic doing a "buyer's inspection". The Honda K-series engine is excellent, but anyone can ruin the best engine by neglecting the maintenance.

I've heard about problems with the timing-chain-tensioner in the Honda 2.4 engine, so look for maintenance records like using good oil and changing it on schedule. I think by 2006 the auto-trans problems were pretty much gone, but the manual-trans has always been my favorite. I'm sure the Nissan blogs can point out their favorite problems too, so don't take this as a vote for Nissan.

My 2005 was a certified used car when I got it, so it could be why I've had no issues. Regardless of what car you buy, if it isn't certified, you must do your homework on it to make sure you're not getting ripped. That includes getting a Carfax record and a $200 engine inspection.

I almost bought a 04 Audi for less than this 05 Accord when I was shopping for a car. The price was too good to be true, and it really turned out to be so. I spent $250 to get that thing inspected, but saved myself about $10,000 worth of hassle.

I currently have Honda accord 2000, ex 4cyl ulev engine, auto. I have 189k on the car, am having issues with my automatic gear, when shifting from 1 to 2, especially when climbing. No hassles on level road. Other shift 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 shift well, it even shift in such a smooth way that one would hardly notice. But for the 1-2 shift that shift hard. What could be the probs and should I do pls
