outside door handle

RE: outside door handle
I'm not sure that you can still order by the color code on that age of car.
To get to the handle you need to remove the inner door panel, then peel back the moisture barrier.
Then there are 10mm nuts holding the door handle in place from the inside of the door skin.
the latch rod will need to be popped out of a plastic retainer on the back side of the handle.

RE: outside door handle
thanks hondadude, found one at our local bone yard for 15 bucks and tackled it this pm. Also had to change the key lock tumblers since this was a front door. A little tricky, maybe I can help someone out. Once you have the old handle out, set it on your bench next to the new one. work on new lock set 1st to learn on the one you don't need. first there is a retaining clip you can get off with a small screwdriver. under the clip is the plastic piece that connects to the lock rod hondadude mentioned. under that is a wavy flat washer, then take the spring off wich sits on another piece of plastic wich comes off also. Now heres was the tricky part, on the side of the lock set there is two small holes accross from each other that I put two nails into and pressed to release the lock from the handle. I thought that it would come out towards the parts that I'd been taking off, but no matter what I did, no luck. I finally figure out it releases toward the key side of the lock after popping out the escusion where the key goes in. assembly is pretty much the same in reverse and your same old key will work the new door handle. thanks again bob
