Hey...they is a very cool idea. I think I will buy one of those valves.

Desert...what do you mean by this:

"You need a time-sert kit # 1415 from Matco tools
inserts 14 by 1.5
all the instructions will be included in the kit.. "

Sorry...I don't know what a time-sert kit is and why I would need it.

Thanks bro

peace out,
daddy
if you go to the link that Marbro provided you will see what i mean,, First you need to make the original hole bigger, than you got to thread it, the insert you will be getting , the outer threads are bigger than inner threads, so it will screw into the new tapped threads,, put some locktite on the new insert so it won't unscrew,, countrsink it. install the valve , make sure the lever faces up ,behing the oil pan, so it is protected by the oil pan ..
Mine isn't stripped yet. I want to just put the new one (the one you recommended) in before that could happen, so I guess I don't need to worry about the time-sert kit unless I just want to get it for the hell of it, right? LOL

peace out,
daddy

Yo daddy, if the threads on the pan are good you do not need the time sert kit , you are correct,, you can just install the valve,,,

I drive a 2003 accord and i installed one on the first oil change i did..

my drain plug threads have been re-tapped with an oversized drain plug, and now thats not holding any more, will the 14-1.5 (1415A) still work? I am also interested in getting the valve plug, but have the same question regarding the size, and would it be fine just to get the valve plug alone?

sorry to dig up an old thread however I was hoping to give some feedback and get some input.
the drain plug on my wife's car was recently stripped by a local shop here in Reno NV so when I came across this info I was elated, it sounded simple enough.
I purchased the necessary parts but there is no room under the car to tap into the pan threads straight. maybe not using a power drill but the size of the thread tap does not fit into any T-hand tap wrenches with the handles that move so it can be slid back and forth to allow clearance (I hope that makes sense)
Anyway, it looks like the pan needs to be removed to do this repair which in my humble opinion defeats the purpose of repair.
if the pan is being removed several easier options arise around the same price.
one would be replacing the pan with the oem pan (new or used) so no $100 plus timesert kit is needed.
the second option would be replacing the pan with a steel pan such as this one:
Replacement Oil Pan Black, OE replacement

I've not purchased this pan yet but intend to.......

the last option is simply buying a regular thread tap in a larger size than the oem 14x1.5 threads and re tapping the stripped pan then installing the appropriate sized fumoto valve.

does anyone have any input on:
1. a technique to do the work without pulling the pan?
2. the replacement steel pans?
3. re tapping the threads to a larger size and installing the appropriate fumoto valve. it seems the next size up valve, metic anyway is m16x 1.5.

thanks in advance for any input good or bad!

Search for HaNls0uuOUs on YouTube. That is a video on a fix for a stripped oil pan bolt. It looks simple enough and may be worth a shot.

Yes, however unless a perminamt drain valve is being installed it will just strip out again.
