Persistent Brief Power Loss
98 Accord 2.3 Vtec. AT. 165000 KM.
Hi all. When the engine is cold, for a few moments while coming off of fast idle, if I'm starting off from a stop, power will cut out and the engine nearly stall and then take off as normal. I've been experiencing this issue for over a year. It's persistent, hasn't gotten worse, no codes pending or otherwise. Dealer had no suggestions except change the plugs and air filter, which I did. Car performs fine at all other times.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I had a problem similar but it was a stumbling acceleration until the car went into closed loop. I could floor it and the car would still stumble and not gain any speed for a few seconds. An intake manifold cleaning and new o2 sensor did the trick. Even though I had no CEL.
Fuel Air Spark is the troubleshooting procedure
Try cleaning out your intake manifold really well with some brushes and throttle body cleaner. Make sure you get the EGR port and throttle plate. You can even take the plenum off the manifold and clean it real well.
When the car is in open loop- as it looks like it is when your problem occurs- the ECU bases fuel mixture on the throttle position sensor, intake air temp, coolant temp sensor and map sensor without using reference from the upstream. These would be things to keep an eye on as well.
